Martha Stewart Pets

It's a good thing I get out of the house every once in a while to hear about things like Martha Stewart Pets, Martha's new line of toys, beds, bowls, clothes, carriers, etc. for dogs for PetSmart. (Why not cats, Martha? Why?)

The crochet critter and foodie toys are pretty adorable.

Crocheting dog toys for Martha Stewart sounds like a pretty good gig.

(Thanks to Regina for telling me about these!)

I agree. These are really great patterns.

The only problem I have with buying crocheted items is, I just don't see how the person doing this crocheting can possibly be getting paid enough for their work... it doesn't work for me. I don't mind a bit to buy crocheted items off Etsy or at a craft show, but for the prices at big boxes, I worry about the person making them. I read you can't do this by machine, so it seems to me someone is not being paid enough.

Crazymotheringchick, you're absolutely right. I even had a similar thought when I looked at the price PetSmart was selling them for. On one hand it's sort of exciting crochet is being featured in a fairly prominent line; on the other hand, it means someone somewhere is probably not getting what he or she is worth. I don't know much about Martha Stewart's company's practices, who it hires, where its goods are made, but it's something I'm going to check out.
